Airport Parking

If you’re flying from Edinburgh Airport, finding the right airport parking doesn’t need to be a headache. With plenty of airport parking options to choose from, your car will be safe, secure and well looked after while you jet off on your trip.

Edinburgh Airport (also known as EDI) offers all kinds of short, medium and long-stay parking options for travellers. Whether you’d prefer the convenience of meet and greet parking, or are looking to save money with park and ride, or even book a full valet parking package, it is all there to choose from.

Types of parking at Edinburgh Airport

Choosing which type of parking to use will depend on the length of your trip, and your budget. By planning well ahead, and taking advantage of early booking discounts you should be able to find an airport parking solution which is right for your personal circumstances.

When choosing which car park to use at the airport, you’ll need to consider factors like price, convenience, transfer time, how much luggage you might be carrying and any mobility issues or special requirements you or your party have which may impact your choice.

At Edinburgh Airport, there are three main options available:

Long Stay Parking

If your trip is more than a couple of days, long-stay parking can be a cost-effective choice. The Long Stay car park is situated within the boundary of Edinburgh Airport. After you park your car, a free shuttle bus service transports you the short 5-minute drive to the main terminal. The shuttle leaves approximately every eight minutes.

The long-stay car park is accredited with Park Mark, which means you have complete peace of mind that your car will be kept secure while you are away. Regular security patrols by attendants operate 24 hours a day. The long-stay car park is also covered by cctv and has secure perimeter fencing.

Valet Parking

For the ultimate in convenience when arriving at Edinburgh Airport, choose Valet parking. With Valet parking, simply drive to the Valet Parking area located at the terminal. There you’ll hand your keys to a valet, leaving you free to head straight to check-in. The valet will park your car, and have it ready for you on your return.

Valet parking is usually the most expensive option, however, the convenience it offers makes it a great choice for travellers who need a completely hassle-free experience.

Edinburgh Terminal Parking

If you’re looking for quick and easy parking, Edinburgh Airport offers parking at the terminal itself. This is a good option if you’re short on time, with only a short walk to the terminal from the car park.

Edinburgh offers two terminal car parks

  • one covered multi-storey car park
  • an outdoor surfaced car park.

Both car parks are approximately a two-minute walk to the terminal for check-in. You can either pre-book or just turn up and park. Pre-booking terminal parking is usually cheaper, with savings of up to 65% versus the drive-up price, so it is worth planning ahead.

Passengers using the multi-storey terminal parking at Edinburgh can benefit from FastTrack security, to speed things up once you reach the terminal. Upon showing your multi-storey parking booking, up to 4 people can use the dedicated FastTrack security lane.

If you’re travelling without any hold luggage, the carpark also features a FastTrack bridge which takes you directly to the FastTrack security area. This is accessed from level 2 of the carpark.

There are plenty of big-name hotels operating within a short walk of all the airport carparks. Many parking operators offer cheap deals on hotels as part of an airport parking package, which is ideal for those travelling on a budget.

The hotels near the airport offer a wide range of facilities and services, including lounges, bars, restaurants, gyms, pools and meeting rooms. Most hotels offer a shuttle bus service to the terminal, and the journey takes from 2-10 minutes.

To hire a car, you must make sure you have your photocard driving licence ID to hand. Car hire is pre-bookable, or available on a walk-up basis, although the best rates will be found by booking in advance.

Taxis

Taxis are available from EDI. You can pre-book Edinburgh Airport taxis or just hail a black cab from the taxi rank at the terminal. Travelling by taxi is completely hassle-free, meaning you can sit back, relax and enjoy the views rather than worrying about navigating unfamiliar roads by yourself!

Edinburgh Airport Shuttle Bus service

Edinburgh Airport Overview

Edinburgh Airport is the gateway to Scotland. With over 14.3 million passengers a year passing through, the airport is the busiest in Scotland.

The airport has one terminal building and two runways, which serves flights to a number of European destinations, along with regular national flights to London airports and other major British airports. At present, 38 airlines operate from EDI, flying to 157 destinations including Amsterdam, Dublin and Paris.

The airport was founded in 1916. Originally built as the most northerly of Britain’s air defence bases, it played an important role in both world wars. The airport changed hands from the RAF to the ministry of aviation in 1960, and since then has continued to grow into the vibrant passenger hub of today.
