Newcastle Airport Parking

Newcastle Airport is approximately 6 miles to the northeast of the city. It is easily accessible by car from the A1 trunk road, via the A696. The airport is clearly signposted from all directions, and satnav users should follow directions using the postcode NE13 8BZ.

Valet parking is available at Newcastle Airport using the Meet and Greet parking service. On arrival, you check in your vehicle keys to the Meet and Greet reception area, and then make your way to your flight. Your car is waiting for you on arrival back a short 2-minute walk from the terminal, making it the most convenient way to park at NCL. You can also pre-book Fast Track security passes with this service, to further speed up your airport experience.

Newcastle Airport is committed to equal access, and accessible parking bays are available in all the car parks on site. In the Express car park and Short Stay 1, there are assistance points located near the accessible parking bays. Transfer coaches from the long-stay car park are equipped with wheelchair ramps and kneeling suspension for access.

Motorcycle users are advised to park in the Long Stay car park, or for stays under 24 hours, the Short Stay 1 car park.

Newcastle Airport can provide a range of assistance for those with hidden disabilities. There is a special lanyard available, which alerts staff that a passenger may need a little more time or assistance to navigate through security or other areas of the airport. Lanyards can be acquired free of charge from the Passenger Assistance Desk in the main concourse.

A dedicated sensory area is available for use by passengers with Autism or mental health issues who need a quiet area to recoup if they become overwhelmed by the experience within the terminal. It’s free to use and can be accessed by contacting the special assistance desk in the main concourse.

You are allowed to take liquids like baby milk and sterilized water to make up formula through security in quantities over 100ml, although these will be subject to security screening. You should only take what you need for your trip. Other liquids in containers over 100ml are not permitted – note that this includes baby juice.

Infant supplies like milk and nappies are available to purchase air-side in the Boots located in the departure lounge.

Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive, check and catch your flight. Before your date of travel, you should check your travel documents carefully, and arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight departs.

Check any specific advice from your travel agent, and make sure to allow time for car parking and any transfers too, so you don’t have to rush.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the airport terminal, or within seven metres of the entrances. If you are a smoker, there are two dedicated smoking areas available, both before and after security.

Before security, you can access the smoking area outside the main terminal. Once you’ve passed through security, the smoking area can be found by Bar 11.

Airport security is designed to keep passengers and crew safe on all flights. All cabin bags are placed through a screening device, and passengers are also checked.

You will need to present your boarding card on arrival in the security area and make sure you comply with the airline policy on permitted items for your hand baggage.

Passengers will be asked to place all cabin baggage, electronic items, phones, laptops and tablets into a tray, to pass through the scanning equipment.

In addition, you should remove any bulky coats, jumpers, belts, metal items or heavy boots before walking through the walk-through scanner. You may be subject to other searches by security personnel, including with a handheld metal detector, or explosive trace detection equipment.

Once you and your baggage have been screened, you can move to the repacking area to repack your bags and gather your things together before moving into the departure lounge.
